Culture & Religion
Ancient Egyptian culture and religion are so closely intertwined that you cannot separate the two. Egyptians lived their daily lives according to their religious beliefs and everything that happened in their world happened on one way or another due to the gods. There was an order of priests for most of the major gods and each order of priests not only ran the administration of the temples dedicated to their god but also took part in any rituals that involved that god. The high priests of certain gods, such as the god Ra, were also very powerful and influential in Egyptian politics.
Egyptologists use every clue and any source they can to gain insight into the life of ancient Egyptians but perhaps the best window into their world is some of the surviving works of art and jewelry. Although most example of jewelry we have were found in the tombs of super rich individuals, through them you can imagine the world they came from. In several different pieces of art we see Egyptians performing everyday tasks such as farming or transporting water.
Temples
Temples were essential parts of the Egyptian culture and way of life. All officials were backed by the priests and priests resided over all official events. There was a separate group of priests for each god and each group had its own temples dedicated to their god. They also had unique responsibilities. Remains of several temples have been excavated and the amount of craftsmanship and detail used in their construction was absolutely amazing.
